29245 | Samuel Stone, son of Matthew and Rachel (Smoot) Stone, was born at "Poynton Manor", Durham Parish, Charles County. He married Elizabeth, daughter of John and Rebecca Howard, of the same county. His wife as Elizabeth Stone shared in the estate of her mother Rebecca Howard in 1770. In 1778 Samuel Stone took the oath of allegiance and fidelity to the State of Maryland in Charles County, his name being on the list of "His Worshipful Richard Barnes' Returns".5 In 1778 he was one of the bondsmen for Richard Robins Reeder, the executor of Esther Harrison. At the tax list of 1783 he was assessed for 100 acres of "Poynton Manor", and had six in his immediate family. Richard Marshall in his will, dated 1784, spoke of "my half brother and sister Samuel Stone's children". At the first census of 1790, Samuel Stone Sr. was living in Charles County with himself and another male over the age of 16, one male under 16, two females, and eight slaves. 5Unpub. Md. Records, vol. 5, p. 42, D. A. R. Library. Note: No further record of Samuel Stone can be found in Charles County. The 1800 census of Somerset County, Maryland, shows a Rev. Samuel Stone as the head of a family. He and his wife were more than 45 years of age, and in the home were one male between 26 and 45, two females and one male between 16 and 26, and one female less than 10 years. There were also five free negroes and fifteen slaves on the estate. http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/glc/7158/7158_23.html | Stone, Samuel (I36725)

29248 | Samuel was born 9 Feb 1758 in Hyattstown MARYLAND. He was the firstborn of John and Charity McDougle. There is no further information on Samuel in the RCHS files. In the 1810 Fayette Co., German Township PA census there are two McDougle households: Alexander (definitely the son of John and Charity) and a Samuel household. In both cases the name is spelled "McDugall". It seems likely this Samuel is the son of John and Charity. There was only one page separation in the census listing of Alexander and Samuel. The age categories for the Samuel household were: 1810 Males: Under 10 -1; Age 10-16 - 1; Over 45 - 1 Females: Under 10 - 3; Age 10-16 -1; Over 45 - 1 Also there was a Samuel McDougle who witnessed the deed transfer from Alexander to Charity in 1843; this was perhaps the same Samuel. It also gives rise to some speculation tat Samuel was the son of Alexander. However there is considerable material on the ancestry of Alexander which does not seem to include a son Samuel. It is probable the 1850 listing is also the same Samuel. The 1850 German Township census listing gives a Samuel, age 43, a farmer born in PA, with wife Catherine 42. One of their seven listed daughters was named Charity, evidence that this Samuel was the son of either Samuel or Alexander. There is no evidence that Alexander had a son named Samuel;, his son John had a son Samuel Jackson, age 15 in the 1850 census. The Samuel in the 1850 census, age 43, could not be descended from Samuel's brother Benjamin. Thus it is plausible that the above German Township mentioned Samuels refer only to Samuel, Samuel Jackson, and Samuel(S?). The "Genius of Liberty" Oct. 1865 has a death listing of Samuel McDougle age 36. This could be the son of Samuel(S?). Among the "Solders of the War of 1812 from Fayette Co." was a Private Levi McDougal. It is possible he was a son of Samuel or Alexander. http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/m/c/d/David-Mcdougle/WEBSITE-0001/UHP-0035.html | McDougle, Samuel (I53128)

Samuel Comstock and Richard Arnold (whose sister Elizabeth, Samuel married) were the first settlers at Woonsocket. Samuel k had a long controversy with the town on Mendon over ownership of 900 acres of land on present state line between Mass, and RI. On Nov. 21, 1698, the selectman of Mendon gave Samuel Comstock "free liberty to cut so much timber as will be necessary for their use, viz.: to build the Saw mill and Dam at the Great River." Samuel resided at Providence, but in 1731 a part was set off as Smithfield. Samuel Comstock's will of Dec. 21, 1726 was proved Sept. 18, 1727, executrix, wife Elizabeth. Inventory L296 6s ld. 29253 | Samuel Wright Jr & sil Mary Burt 24 Mar 1654/55 The Deacon and Hannah's husband, Lt. Thomas Stebbins, were involved with each other as trusted friends (see again, Pynchon Court Records in "Families of the Pioneer Valley," Regional Publications, West Springfield, MA 2000). For instance, on 24 March 1654/55 Thomas Stebbins joined with the Deacon in providing a most personal and embarrassing bond to the Pynchon court in Springfield (in the matter of the illegitimate child the Deacon's son, Samuel Wright Jr., fathered upon his own sister-in-law, Mary Burt). This would have been a matter only very close friends would have joined together on. per email from Michael Wright note: if this bond happened when the child was an infant, then it would have been conceived no later than June or July of 1653 - which predates both Samuel Jr and Mary Burt's respective marriages. Mary would not have been his sister-in-law at that time. ss | Family: Sgt. Samuel Wright, Jr / Mary Burt (F14464)

29260 | Samuel, David and Ezekiel Forman Early Pioneer Colony (1792) When he was thirteen years old, Samuel Forman ran onto the Battle Field at Monmouth, NJ. He was deeply interested in the history of the Revolutionary War. He was instrumental in erecting the Monument at Monmouth. He later owned a flat bottom boat and took his Uncle Ezekiel Forman, his family and 67 Negro slaves down the Ohio River to Natchez, Mississippi where his Uncle General David Forman had arranged for the purchase of some 1200 acres from Spanish Governor Gayoso for the purpose of starting a tobacco plantation. Major Samuel S. Forman wrote a narrative "Journey Down the Mississippi and Ohio." I can produce copies of the Spanish port reports showing the arrival of Ezekiel Forman, from Monmouth County New Jersey, he was the brother of General David Forman, revolutionary commander of the Forman Regiment. Also of the Forman family was William Gordon Forman, who served in the first legislature of Mississippi. .....Submitted by ...Your Most Obedient Servant, Stephen D.
