Dave McDonald, 1933-2012

David George McDonald, 78, passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at his home in Columbia.
The University of Missouri Psychology Department has planned a tribute for Dave at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at 313 Psychology Building.

Dave was born on Aug. 16, 1933, in St. Louis.
Dave received his bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri in 1955, his master's degree from Washington University in 1957 and his doctorate from Washington University in 1959. Dave was a member and officer of the American Psychological Association. He worked with the association for the Psycho Physiological Study of Sleep.
After working as a research psychologist for the U.S. Navy in San Diego, Calif., in 1962, Dave began his full-time work at MU in 1963.
Among his many positions, he was a professor in the Psychology Department. He retired in 2009 but continued work as a grader and lecturer online.
His hobbies were genealogy research, reading, music and photography.
Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Merle Lovelady McDonald, his father, George McDonald, and his brother, John Robert McDonald. He is survived by seven children and four grandchildren.
