John is found on the land recor ds of Virginia, South Carolina and
Kentucky. They lived in Henry Co and Fran klin Co.
John was a private in the Infantry and later in the Calvary in the
company of Capt. Hairston of the Regiment commanded by Col. Shelby in
Virgini a Militia for 11 months from 1777. He was a drummer. John served
from April 1, 1776 to October 6,1776 under Cap. Perteste and Lt. Samual
Harston in a mo unted company of horseman providing his own horse, gun and
equipment. He went from Henry Co, Virginia where he was living to NC, crossing
the Blue Ridge Mounta ins to Ft. Henry on April 1, 1778. He served under
Capt. Joseph Renfro and L t. David Hedane as a private for at least six
months arriving at Botetourt Co urt House. He took care of the sick and
wounded under the direction of Col. Morgan at the Battle of Cowpans.
After three days, he joined General Green at Guilford, he was discharged
by Col. Lyon.

Union Co, SC; then in 1802 Barre n Co, KY. Died in Barren 4/22/1846. md
2/1781 Ester Peach in VA, widow pensio ned Barren Co, KY 1847, 84 old, died
5/5/1851. Children Jesse (7/8/1785), Joh n (8/20/1780), William
(2/23/1792), Joshua (1/3/1796), and Joseph (6/21/1801)
