Dec 2, 1793 from Margaret Stone and Mildred Stone, both of CC, co-heiresses of their father, Thomas Stone, Esquire, and of their brother, Frederick Stone, decd, to Gustavus Richard Brown of CC, Physician, for and in consideration that sd Thomas Stone, in his lifetime, on about Jun 21, 1787, did oblige himself, in consideration of the services rendered to his family as a Physician, to convey to sd Brown the lands and premises hereafter mentioned, namely part of a tract of land called Plenty, bounded by the west side of the road that goes from Port Tobacco towards the plantations of Zephaniah Turner, Henry Barnes, and William Halkerston, the road that leads down the swamp to Port Tobacco, a tract of land called Chandlers Hills, containing about 20 acres. The intent of this deed is to convey all that part of Plenty that lies to the west side of the road afd. Signed - Margaret Stone, Mildred Stone. Wit - Henry Barnes*, James Freeman*. Thomas Stone was six feet and half an inch in height. He was a taciturnman, of strong feelings, and more remarkable for ternseness of style thaneloquence of diction. He left three children, amply provided for --Margaret, Mildred, and Frederick.

by resolution of 1834, the Gov of MD was authorized to have a full length portrait of Thomas Stone painted for the State House, and in 1874 the Assembly directed a portrait be painted and contributed to the collection in Independence Hall in Philadelphia.

STONE, Thomas, (brother of Michael Jenifer Stone), a Delegate from Maryland; born at Poynton Manor, Charles County, Md., in 1743; completed preparatory studies; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1764 and commenced practice in Frederick, Md.; moved to Charles County, Md., in 1771; member of the state senate 1779-1783; Member of the Continental Congress in 1775, 1776, 1778, and 1784; a signer of the Declaration of Independence; died in Alexandria, Va., October 5, 1787; interment in the garden of his estate, Habre de Venture, Port Tobacco, Charles County, Md.
