- Speedy died last night in his sleep, oct 26-27, 2008, the last of my grandparents to go. Fare thee well, old man. I saw him last two years ago. He did not remember me, but he liked spending time with my daughter, his great grandaughter. He had no idea who she was either, but she brought a smile to his face. What he did remember was flying. He talked about it all the time. I think he's been up there in the clouds these last few years, where he loved to be. He never talked much before. My grandmother did all the talking when she was sitll around. He was a quiet and easy man with an easy smile but he was a ferocious doer. He was always cooking or building things from replica antique pieces to beautiful homes. They said he earned the nickname Speedy because he was always getting things done fast. He was very fast but also very well organized and meticulous.I admired him greatly.
