When John Coode seized the government of the province in 1689 and endeavored to disarm the people, the Protestants united in an association fearing the ascendency of the papists, and presented addresses on the subject to the crown. Among the sgners of these address we find the name of Peter Dent [third son of Co l. Thomas Dent], Deputy Collector of His Majesty's Customs in Somerset County, and Capt. John Dent of Cool Springs in Charles County.
This Peter Dent who had removed to Somerset County on the eastern shore was also a signer of the petition against the removal of the seat of government from St. Mary's County in 1694.
He was married to Jane Pittman Gray and Elizabeth Ballard.
Mar. 1697 Edmund HOWARD sold to Peter DENT 93 acres 1710-11 Peter DENT willed the land except 93 acres to his daughter Rebecca DENT who married first David BROWN & James ANDERSON son of James & Rebecca ANDERSON, she removed to Chester Co., PA & in 1752 willed James ANDERSON, son of James and Rebecca ANDERSON to wife Rachel sons James and John.
1710-11 Peter DENT willed the land except 93 acres to his daughter Rebecca DENT who married first David BROWN and James ANDERSON, son of James and Rebecca ANDERSON. She removed to Chester Co, PA in 1752..
