"...son of Dr. Henry Clay, who came to Ky. in 1787...Henry Clay . . . was a liutenant of the 4th So., 3rd Reg. of Ky. Riflemen under Genl. William Henry Harrison in the War of 1812, and later was a colonel in the State Militia. He was known as 'Colonel Henry Clay of Bourbon' to distinguish him from Henry Clay of Lexington, to whom he was a second cousin, as he was also to Cassius M. Clay and Brutus Clay, other well-known Kentuckians. The twelve children born to Henry and Margaret Helm Clay..."
