Sherry,
Whilst (whilst?? - who am I kidding?) going through items at libraries and such, I found an interesting article.
It is from the Missouri Historical Review, Volume 64, Number 1, October, 1969, State Historical Society of Missouri, Columbia, MO by Warren A. Jennings, Associate Professor of History, SW Missouri State College, Springfield, MO., entitled "The Expulsion of the Mormons from Jackson County, Missouri"
The article describes a clash of Mormons and Christians in the county during the year 1834 and an ensuing gun battle in November of that year where "The fire must have been heavy; for when the battle was over, two of their citizens and a number of their horses were dead on the field. Dead were Thomas Linville, who had his jaw shot away and Hugh I Brazeal, an attorney, who had received two balls in the head. Several others were wounded. The Mormons also suffered casualties. Andrew Barber died the following day and it was not expected that Philo Dibble would survive........"
___
Past and Present of Nodaway Missouri, Vol 1, states he was a captain in the militia that faught with the Mormons and was killed in that conflict.
Came to Missouri from Tennessee about 1830 and located in Jackson County, Mo.
