Hillebrandt Cemetery Little Acres Road, Beaumont, Texas 77705
The line of family of this cemetery, Christian Espar Z. Hillebrandt (1830-1906) are connected to my direct family by marriage and neighbors.
Christian's father, Christian Sr. was born 1792 in Denmark. And in 1850 was living in Sabine Pass, Texas. Living in his household was Samuel Lee (1818), who also was from Denmark. It raises the question if Lee and Hillebrandt might have been related. Samuel Lee would marry Eliza Jane Sparks 10 years later.
Christian Jr's sister Caroline Hillebrandt married William Brewer. In 1850 Brewer lived next door to the Sparks brothers, Solomon and John. His son Elisha married Mary Ellen Courts. Mary Ellen was Helmer's sister, and Helmer was married to John Sparks' daughter Julia.
After Elisha Brewer died she married Thomas F. Smith. This is the namesake of the TF Smith Homestead graves.
These and other photos from the Hillebrandt Bayou area can be viewed in my Picasa album.
(pictures of headstones were garnered from findagrave; however the overall cemetery and surrounding grounds were taken by yours truly. The gate into the cemetery grounds was locked.) |
