- Mahala (aka Malinda) Maddon Renoe may have been a Madden by birth and Renoe by a first marriage. Her parents may have been John Madden and Polly Thorne. However, according to Boris Bulatkin, the father of Ms. Renoe was a Francis Rennoe. See note to Francis Rennoe's wife (Elizabeth Bayless) for more information.

notes for Elizabeth Bayless (Reno)
That Ms. ? Bayliss was the mother of Malinda [Mahala] Maddon
Renoe is purely conjecture. E. C. Orear II has the family of
Francis Reno with wife, ? Bayliss and showing 9 children
including one "Millie (Malinda?)". Because Boris Bulatkin shows Francis Rennoe as the mother of ? Renoe, Judge Orear indicates that John Orear married a Renoe, and noting that others said Mahala (or Malinda) Maddon, I believe this {Elizabeth Bayless) is the wife of Francis Rennoe and the mother of Malinda [Mahala] Maddon Renoe.
Another guess is that Ms Bayliss's given name was Elizabeth.
This theory is derived from the fact that John Orear is listed as the administrator for Elizabeth Reno, Dec'd. on 7 May 1764 in the Prince William County Bond Book (1753-1782) with William Whitledge providing the bond.

>By the way, sometime this afternoon there should be a couple of my O'Rear posts to the list coming through (the Rootsweb server seems to be a little slow). One of the posts is a message I forwarded from Jim Tackitt. There he asks about the ages of Francis Reno's children--he had been under the impression they would have been too young to marry
these O'Rears. Jim wrote that message to me on March 17 and I just now forwarded it to the list. I would be interested in knowing about those dates as well--I'm very fuzzy on these early dates.
Yes, I saw the postings, and have printed them for further study.
I have:
Francis RENNOE m. Elizabeth BAYLISS (she d. 1764)
- Col. Enoch RENOE m. Sibel FARROW
- Hannah RENOE (b. 1789, d. 23 Jun 1845)) m. Enoch O'REAR
- Frank RENO
- George RENO
- Bayliss RENO m. Jane DAVIS (he resided Fleming Co, KY in 1811)
- Richard RENO
- Matilda RENO
- Henry F. RENO
- Elizabeth RENO
- Malinda Maddon RENO m. John O'REAR
- 10 children
- Frances RENO (called Fannie)
- Dolly RENO
- Jane RENO
- Lydia RENO m. Jeremiah MOORE
The only dates I have are shown. I have some estimated dates, but really have no support for them.
Notice that I have Malinda with a middle name. Very few had middle names back then and I doubt she did. I include it as I suspect she _may_ have been married before to a MADDON. While most sources indicate she was a RENO, there are a some that indicate her name was Malinda MADDON. If she was marroed earlier, then probably Mr. Maddon died soon after they married. I've looked for something to support this theory, but have found nothing yet.
I have seen one source that Malinda's parents were John MADDEN and Polly THORNE, and that she first married a RENO. But I never saw anything to support that either.
Sure would be nice to run across H. G. Wells and borrow his time machine wouldn't it?
