- Notes for ROBERT FOSTER:
On May 4 1762-Robert was commissioned an Ensign in the VA Militia to fight Indians. Source: Prince William County Order Book 1761-1763, p.2: At a court continued and held for Prince William County the 4th of May, 1762. Present: Henry Lee, Bertrand Ewell, Lewis Renoe, J. Lynaugh Helm, Gentlemen Justices. Robert Foster produced a commission from under the hand of His Honour the Governor appointing him Ensign in the Company whereof Daniel Kincheloe is Captain, took the oaths appointed by act of Parliament to be taken, repeated and subscribed the Test as a military officer.
They might have had more children, only raised four to maturity.
On 23 Apr 1744, Robert's father gave him 150 acres of land.
On 27 Nov 1753, Robert bought the 150 ac. inheritance of his brother Isaac & another 100 acres from Moris BEVINS, 8 Jun 1755.
In the 1760's the bottom seems to have dropped out of the tobacco market, Robert mortgaged all his Prince William Co. land on 7 Feb 1765, to James DOUGLAS and wasn't paid off till after Robert's death.

Robert's will was presented by his widow, Sarah, 2 May 1768 and was returned in 1777, but wasn't finalized till 7 Nov 1783, due to the Revolutionary War.
