THIS INDENTURE made the 30th day of December Anno 1649 and in the first yeare of the Raigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles the second of that name by the grace of God Kinge of England Scotland France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, Betweeen JOHN POWELL of ye County of Northumberland, Planter, of one part and MRS. JOAN PHILLPOTT of ye same County, Widdow, ye other party, Wittness that whereas there is a Contract of Matrymony concluded betweene the above said partyes and bath only to be solemnized, in consideration vhreof I ye above said JOHN POWELL do covenant and grant to and with the above said JOAN PHILLPOTT for my selfe my heires Executors Administrators and assignes not to medle with or have any thing to doe with the Estate of ROBERT PHILLPOTT, her !au Husband deceased, but that ye said JOAN PHILLPOTT shall freely enjoy and dissolve of ye same to her owns good likeing and proper use and to have and hould ye said Estate to her selfe her heires Executors & Administrators as really and firmly as in her Widdowhood to all intents and purposes as if ye Contract of Matrimony had never been made; In Confirraa-con whereof I ye said JOAN PHILLPOTT doe bind my selfe my heires Executors Administrators and assignes to pay or cause to be paid all my last Husbands debts out of ye said Estate or as much as ye said Estate will amount unto and that all things may be actually and faithful p:formed according to ye true mea.ninge and intent of ye pr:sent Endenw re, we have interchangably sett our hands and seales the day and year above written
