- He was a participant in the Mier expedition late in 1842, enlisted on 20 Oct 1842 in the company of Isaac Mitchell, tranferred on 19 December to the company of Capt. C. K. Reeves and he was taken prisoner at Mier on 26 Dec 1842. He withstood the long march to Mexico City, where he was imprisoned for 20 months. He was released on the Mexican Independance Day 16 Sept. 1844. The men made their way to the coast and boarded the schooner Creole bound for New Orleans, and from there made their way home in small groups. Isaac and four other men from La Cava County reached home safely and he was honorably discharged on 20 Sept 1844. He married Rebecca Brown in 1856. After two of their children were born they felt war with the United States was inevitable, so they moved with their children to Santa Rosa, Mexico where one of their children was born.
