Harvey Dillard Hix was born in Jackson county June 4, 1880 and attended public schools there. He spent his early days in California, Idaho and Washington. He returned to Tennessee and was appointed rural mail carrier which he did for 17 years, resigning in 1925 when he moved to Cookeville and purchased the Peoples Store from R L Maddux, which he operates today under the same name. In 1913 he married Miss Lola Holman from near Cookeville. He is a Baptist and a Democrat
