- Halifax (formed from Edgecombe) deed book 8 page 429 dated 1764 shows William Ridgeon of Dobbs selling to Jacob Renfrow of Dobbs. This deed was neccessary for Jacob to sell the land left to him by his father since Tomasin had a life time right to it, which William Ridgeon signed away for her to give clear title to Jacob, who had already relocated to Dobbs with them. The deed is signed by William Ridgeon and Tomasin Ridgeon. This is followed immediately by Jacob Renfrow and wife Priscilla of Dobbs selling the land in Halifax County to John Brantley. In both deeds it is mentioned as having been granted to Edward Simmons (Tomasin's father) 17 October 1735.
