Edmund Marshall, the immigrant
ancestor of the family here treated, was born in England in 1598, according to his own depo sition made in 1668, and at that time his wifeMilicent was sixty-seven years old. He was
in Salem, Massachusetts, in 1636, a weaver, was admitted freeman in 1637 and in 1646, or soon afterward, removed to Ipswich and there founded a notable family. The date of his
death is unknown. His children were Naomi, baptized January 24, 1637; Ann, born April 15, 1638; Ruth, May 3, 1640; Sarah, May 29, 1642; Edmund, June 16, 1644; Benjamin,
September 27, 1646; Thomas, Peter and
Joseph.
