I applaud the well-considered legal ruling of Judge Bob Wortham in the South Park High School case. Thank you, your honor, for your thoroughgoing approach to this difficult and emotion-filled matter. I appreciate your sense of fairness.

In that ruling, Judge Wortham issued a permanent injunction to prevent the Beaumont Independent School District from destroying our beautiful and historic building, the original home of South Park High and Lamar Junior College, but with a loophole that he could not avoid. They may not destroy the building using money that comes from the recent bond issue. That leaves the door open for doing the same thing, but with money from a different source.

We Greenies are concerned that those on the board and in the administration who seem to hate our fine old building (or maybe the hate us?) will find a way to sneak around and still destroy the high school, only to build a dinky, poorly designed and constructed, cracker-box of a "modern" schoolhouse.

We must do all in our power to prevent that. We will. Let this letter be a warning shot across the bow of their misguided ship: Greenie Fight Never Dies!
