The Bayou Friday, April 2, 2010 The ballz are out: Bye, bye South Park Ibbity-ibbity-ibbity...that's all folks. The 'dozer is out and the public's trust South Park is being demolished. Happy holidays! The BISD knows one universal axiom: never let a little fraud get in the way of a good demolition. The outrage over the interwebs is of Biblical proportions. Here's a random sampling culled only from the comments section of the Enterprise (diversity is usually what we're after). "Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord." "VOTE. THEM. ALL. OUT." "Satan is laughing with delight, his BISD board minions are doing his bidding." SATAN is involved?!?!? "Doc" Thomas and Satan -- have we ever seen them in the same room together? Curious. South Park will soon be reduced to rubble, only to rise again as a brand-new modular-type building thingy. Progress and all. So we raise our glasses (we usually have two or more drinks going at one time; for efficiency purposes) and salute "Doc" Thomas, the braintrust that is the BISD school board and their magnificent PR people. Thank you for giving us news on a day when there usually isn't any (you can now push the green play button. Go ahead, it won't bite). I read through all the comments on the BE page and people are so full of FAUX christian outrage it is ridiculous. All these "Christians" are wishing Thomas and the Board, harm or death. The only REAL reason he is demolishing this building now is to prove to Jefferson County that he can- he doesn't give two rat's a$$es about the little kiddies it will house. If he really cared about children and their education, he would have made an example of himself by seeking alternatives to demolition and exhibiting some level of diplomacy. Instead, he has acted like a child and pretty much flipped every taxpayer in Jefferson County the big fat bird. It seems Doc T isn't too worried about public relations. You'd think he would want to justify his actions, and those of the board, with some financial proof that South Park would cost more to renovate. I guess BISD has enough money to spend on building a new school and paying ol' Doc T his rather large salary. Sad many teachers in BISD only make in the 40's. His, and the boards, desire to rid the area of what they perceive to be bad past race relations are costing Beaumont tax payers a heck of a lot of money. April 2, 2010 3:37 PM former Beaumont resident said... Shame on Beaumont School Board and Thomas. First South Park, when will it be the old Beaumont High School, now know as Central? It is old too. Beaumont has always been proud of its history, but some people don't care about a town or community history, only the history they think they can make. The attitue that I am seeing with the board, attorney, and others show they don't care about anything but themself. Shame on them!
