"I think it's a lack of respect for the citizens of Beaumont and definitely a slam against former graduates," Voss said. Greenies held a pep rally at one o'clock on Saturday to show how "green" they still are. "We stay together," Miriam Cade Nichol said. "Whenever a greenie needs something, we're there to help". The Greenies shared as many fond memories as they did mixed emotions. "There are people who see our school as a symbol of the bad old days of segregation so they want to punish the building for that," one supporter said. "It's just a spirit," Voss said.
