Before a packed courtroom,
Beaumont ISD Superintendent Carrol Thomas,

not envision renovating the existing South
Park Middle School when it put its successful
$388.6 million bond proposal before voters in

UPDATE: Bob Menefee, deputy program manager for Parsons, the program manager for the Beaumont ISD bond program, testified today that an employee of the district said a state historical marker that had been affixed to South Park Middle School had been removed and placed in safekeeping with the school's principal.

Attorneys for BISD have maintained that the district was unaware of how the marker had been removed or where it was. The marker is of significance because of state regulations on how structures with such markers can be treated, or whether they can be demolished.
