Beaumont Independent School Board (BISD) Trustees are preparing for a 7 p.m. Monday meeting to discuss the district’s next step following two court orders changing the district’s plans.
On Monday, August 3, 2009 Judge Bob Wortham granted a temporary injunction stopping the demolition of the former South Park High School building. Last week District Judge Milton Shuffield issued a ruling preventing the district from holding an emergency meeting to discuss a possible appeal of Judge Wortham’s decision. Judge Shuffield ruled the meeting could not be held last week because it did not meet the standards required for holding an emergency meeting. To hold an emergency meeting the topic scheduled must be something that poses a public health and safety threat or an unforeseeable situation.
KBMT’s Michael Seiden will attend Monday evening’s meeting and have a full report at ten.
