The year was 1941 and Bob Hayes was elected Senior Class President.

Bob would have never imagined nearly 70-years later his alma matter could possibly be torn down.

"We were completely misled when they put out the bond issues." Hayes said.

Bob and other South Park alumni have joined forces once again to keep the district from demolishing South Park.

They're meeting Saturday to discuss the case and how they can salvage most of the school's memorabilia.

But Bob has his own piece of history, he's managed to keep his yearbook.

"This class here was a rebellious bunch. We probably were the first to come along." Hayes said.

Through good times and bad bob has managed to keep in touch with his classmates.

"There's 8 or 10 of us left. We kinda got a joke saying we can hold our next class reunion in a telephone booth." Hayes said,

The class reunion may have reduced in size, but the school spirit of South Park lives on through people like Bob.

The South Park Heritage Association will have a meeting Saturday at Saint Paul's United Methodist Church at 2 p.m.
