Judge Bob Wortham said he hopes to meet his self-imposed Christmas deadline to rule on the dispute about South Park Middle School.
BISD officials want to tear it down and build a new school as part of the $389 million bond package. Graduates of what was once a Beaumont High school want it renovated as they contend they were promised in the bond vote.

Your brand of sense is non-sense. You are like King Thomas. It's your way or the highway. That attitude does the word 'history' an injustice. 12/21/2009 11:48 PM CST

"public education in this area has been lacking for quite a long time. maybe it's not dr. thomas?" You've got to be joking, right? He's the overpaid chief, right? Yea, I thought so. 12/21/2009 04:37 PM CST

buying the building so that no one can tell you what to do with it makes no sense....right. 12/21/2009 03:43 PM CST

yeah, it would be easier to yell and scream that no one is doing what YOU want them to do, instead of taking the matter into your hands and ensuring you get what you want. fine education you got there. 12/21/2009 03:42 PM CST

timwopel, you already said 'tear the mother down'. That's quite enough. Your other posts become meaningless after a statement like that. 12/21/2009 10:37 AM CST

I can not understand why so many Beaumonter are so dead set against South Park. If your school has been torn down you could have fought to SAVE it. All I can say you did not care what happen to your school.GREENIES are passionate people ansd they have bonded together and will stay together to SAVE SOUTH PARK. Judge Wortham will do what is right. 12/21/2009 08:24 AM CST

Tear the building down and construct another so that our children can learn and be able to compete in our global society. When Charlton Pollard was torned down many of us wanted it to remain, but the powers to be overlooked our desires and told us it was better because education of the kids were more important; why not now. Do I see bias in the possible decision to keep it. There may be a reason for another discrimination lawsuite? Tear it down Judge and let's get on with education. 12/21/2009 08:17 AM CST

maybe it is YOU that lacks heart, or passion, or whatever it takes to put the power in YOUR hands to see this through. 12/21/2009 07:40 AM CST

i still think that the impassioned, former greenies need to band together and make an offer on the property and do whatever they want with it. certainly with all the learning that went on in that building over the years, you can band together and raise the needed funds. if not, then maybe it wasn't as great a school as we are being told it is by it's alumni... 12/21/2009 07:38 AM CST

timwopel wrote:
when you talk about my lack of heart, that would lead me to believe that you want the building to stand for emotional reasons, not historical or fiscal reasons. you will never keep the building if this is the case. the only people that have emotional attachment are those that went there. a very few in the grand scheme of things. 12/21/2009 07:35 AM CST

I just hope the judge does the right thing and saves South Park. Dr Thomas is only interested in "winning" this dispute, not in doing what is right. I just hope the judge has the gumption to stand up and do what is right. 12/21/2009 05:34 AM CST

The only thing, ONLY thing that matters to superintendent Thomas is that he get his own way and get a pay off on those underhanded sweetheart construction deals he has going on. The whole Thomas administration is like a dead fish. It stinks from the head all the way down to the tail. And, everybody knows it. 12/21/2009 12:37 AM CST

I'd like to see the building stand, It has a vast history and a lot of folks have gone through those doors teachers and students alike. As for my family my mom went to school there, both of her sons, two of her grandchildren and a great grandchild 12/21/2009 12:21 AM CST

Probably because people in general have more respect for others' feelings than you, timwopel. South Park actually has significance to a great number of alumni. But, then, it takes someone with a heart to understand. 12/20/2009 07:45 PM CST
