I'm reading some remarks by some people that are amazing, and quite frankly, scary, statements to the effect that since our schools need repair, then it stands to reason to vote yes to a bond issue, and apparently think that is the cure all end all. The devil is in the details. If the bond issue details are doing nothing but totally wasting money on bells and whistles, padding contractors profits or whatever else, and have nothing to do with education, that seems like a no brainer - vote no! We have to know what they plan to do with the money and decide accordingly if it will be effecive for our community. You don't just hand them a blank check.

I have no opposition to a bond issue IF -- keyword -- IF it will be responsibly administered for the furtherance of educating our youth. This doesn't take a lot of common sense.

My main concern and focus lies with their plans for the South Park Neighborhood, i.e. SPMS and Bingman. If you are interested in our campaign to Save South Park, please visit my webpage
http://lumoto.com/southpark and download/print/sign/mail a pdf petition to Save South Park. You will see letters to officials and pictures of the facilities they say are "beyond repair." You will also find a History section that perhaps will broaden an appreciation for the history of the school and the neighborhood that is worth preserving.

There will a meeting at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday March 3rd, at St. Paul's Methodist Church on Woodrow for any who are interested. This meeting is being organized by Miriam Nichols miriamdnls@aol.com; http://southparkgreenies.com

Rest assured, if this detail to elimniate schools from an entire community is in the bond issue, then I certainly will vote no. That in no way can be conducive to our educational system.

Sherry
