Subject: Letter I sent to a bunch of people

If you go out to the Avenues on Blanchette and Avenue c you will see where a big chunk of the last bond issue money was spent.  For what?  A state of the art school  half full in a neighborhood filled with dope dealers, crack addicts and prostitutes.  It was that way while they were building it.  Just to get a school with the name of M. LK  How ridiculous was that?   You people need to get a group of people from out of Beaumont to come  here and assess the situation and give their views.  From what I have observed you people don't have a clue as to what the majority of people want.  Why do you think white people have abandoned all the schools, except West Brook, and moved to other districts.  Its because you people have lost your minds.  None of you can make an intelligent decision.  Part of the $50,000.00 was spent on renovating South Park   Middle School.  Remember it delayed the start of the school year because it wasn't finished?   That cost $1,000.00.

Why don't you combine all the elementary schools in the South Park area and house all them in our old school instead of tearing it down.  Then you can build low income houses on that property and try to bring South Park back to what it used to be in the 60s and 7os.  Why don't you tear down Ozen since it is in need of such extensive repair? South Park High School has been in its     same location 100 years.   Lamar Tech started out on the 3rd floor    If the city of Beaumont had kept up  with their preventive maintenance all these past years there would be no need for a bond issue.  Austin Middle School doesn't seem to have any maintenance problems neither does West Brook High School.  I can promise you that this most recent bond issue will not pass because the people have already seen how the last bond issue was squandered.  Lois Acker
