Letter to the Editor

As an Alum of South Park High School, I?m reading information that is deleterious as well as confusing.  One day there?s an article about how the Engineers have found a ?possibility of ?potential? problems??(Huh?) and the next day there?s an article with different info.  What am I to believe is the truth?

We have an opportunity to be caretakers of what has been left to us.  There?s information from the National Register that will give YOU the ability to join the group of folks trying to help you and become a part of their quest.  When SPHS is put into the National Register, funds become available through Grants that will give you a chance to breathe easy knowing that the taxpayers won?t need to bear the entire amount needed to refurbish SPHS.

There?s really no quarrel left.  You don?t want to spend the money on what you think is an unusable building, which is obviously not true since it was one of the few structures that survived hurricane Rita without terrible destruction.  That is certainly a testament to it?s durability and safety.

The South Park Community is hungry for an anchor on which to rebuild their neighborhoods and give their children the education and support they need to become good and productive citizens.  You hold their future in your hands.  Think long and hard before you make a decision that will remand them to places they never want to be.
