Tanner1996,

Hello, I am cat79. My real name is Cathy Perry. I was born and raised in Groves. Graduated from PNG in 1979, but your cause has really interest me. I guess one reason is, I am tired of seeing the beautiful old buildings in Jefferson County being demo. or abandoned. The only thing missing in downtown Port Arthur is the tumble weeds and at one time downtown Port Arthur was a very beautiful place. As a child I use to have my dance recitals at Woodrow Wilson. Now it sits abandoned for vandalize to tear up. All that history wasted why, because of a missed managed school board. Vocally they say they want to save the tax payers money, when in effect they really could careless about the tax payers or the tax payers students that is attending their missed managed school system!

I guess another reason is, as alot of people know at PNG we are inbreed ed with school spirit. I know I would not want what is happening to ya"ll (the Greenies) to happen to PNG and I know someday it could. If that was to happen, I would hope that other people that did not graduate from PNG would stand up and support our cause. School history and school spirit is something you accumulate over the years. It is not something a engineer can build or money can buy. It is something that attracts people to communities. Because the people in those communities are proud of where they came from and what they have. They also have the tendency to want to stay in those communities and help the communities build. If a school is located clear across town, the pride in that school is not as strong. Kind of the saying "out of sight, out of mind". Once the community starts going down than the pride in the community starts going down. It's a domino effect.

Well I guess I will get off my soap box now. If I can help just let me know.
