One B.I.S.D. board members is concerned that the district doesn't have enough time left to finish the four year bond project begun in 2007.

Brian Burns tells us the district says so far there are only one or two projects that are still behind schedule.

While it may appear as though construction is going full speed ahead for B.I.S.D.... school board trustee Tom Neild says, "There's a lot of work to do in a short amount of time."

At least one trustee thinks the district won't be able to complete the bond project by the end of 2011.

That's when construction was expected to be completed.

Neild says, "I think we had scheduled between 38 and 40 projects and right now you can see that the only ones that have been completed at this stage have been the Fletcher school, West Brook and a portion of West Brook and a portion of Central is going there now and going great guns on Amelia school."

Parsons Construction is getting ten million dollars to oversee the 389 million dollar school bond and Neild is concerned that haven't seen any construction as yet. "I do not want to extend anything past the committed time frame."

The multi-purpose facility is on track according to district officials there are some delays and they're going to have to be dealt with.

School spokesperson Jessie Haynes says; "One Amelia is completed and the Amelia students move into their new school, the students from Caldwood will move into the temporary site for Amelia. It's just because we were trying to make the maximum use out of the facilities we put into place for temporary sites."

Haynes says the district may have to extend the contract with Parsons by about three months. "The district is working on an agreement that will allow for Parsons to stay on board or some other options."

And the district hopes those options won't cost the district any more money.

The school newspaper now lists the completion date for Caldwood Elementary as spring of 2012.
