Note: Not a complete survey of the cemeteries: needs to be compared with Elsberry and other subsequent cemetery surveys. Because it was done so early, it did located a number of stones that have subsequently disappeared. There appear to be comparatively few misreadings or typos. The following limitations were stated in the preface:
"In compiling this book, every tombstone of adults in Boone County was copied where the _birth_ date was prior to 1860. Fifty-two churches and cemeteries are included and fifty-nine old family burying grounds are copied."
Thus, it omitted graves of children, and must be supplemented for purposes of family reconstitution.
The compilers noted that in many Boone County cemeteries, there were numerous old graves with no tombstones.
The book is not a complete listing of all known county cemeteries.

NOTE: John Inman's sister Joanna Inman m Nathaniel Palmer, son of George Palmer and Bethia Mowry. There is a Jonathan Palmer whose daughter Sarah m a Bonham. Sarah had a child Jonathan Bonham. Sarah and Jonathan were both mentioned in the will of Jonathan Palmer in Will Book F pg 443 dated 1802 according to index to Wills of Loudoun Co, Virginia by Louisa Hutchison.

My Palmer was a long time member of Christ Church. The bell there was
suppose to have been first rung when his wife Tomasine died. I don't know
the Bonham's. Taggert is a name I am vaguely familiar with. There is a
small street in Fishtown named Taggert, they had some property up here in
earlier days.

Your Palmer's were probably the Quaker Palmer's, descendents of William
Palmer (& Elizabeth, I think). Don't know this for sure, but there were
other early Palmer's who were Quaker, my Anthony Palmer was always of the
Church of England (here and in Barbados).
A lot of the leading merchants of Philadelphia's early days were ex-Barbadians (your Jones, the Claypoole's, Carpenter, Palmer, etc).

While trying to place my Jones in one of the families that bought land in the early 1800's in Sangamon County I noticed that there appear to have been at least two family groups. William, Alexander, James, Robert and Thomas all bought in a block between 1825 and 1837. Then there is another group 2 sections north of them with Levi, James, Reuben, Edward and Rial with Andrew not too far away. Henry had a chunk to the north of that section. Claiborne and Richard lived near each other, several miles from the other Joneses. Mabra lived near the southern edge of that section, about 3 miles from Enoch. Eli lived farther west, about 7 miles away. Samuel bought land slightly later farther east. Don't know it this helps anyone

Know all men by these presents, that John Madden & Thomas Jones are held and firmly bound unto his Excellency Henry Lee, Esq. Governor of Virginia in the just and full sum of one hundred and fifty pounds, current money, to which payment well and truly to be made, to the said Governor, or his successors, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents, sealed with our seal and dated this 11th day of May, 1793. The condition of the above obligation is such, that, whereas there is a marriage suddently intended to be solemnized between the above bound John Madden and Catharine Bonham now if there by no lawful cause to obstruct the said Marriage, then the above obligation to be void and of no effect, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue. Robert Shannon was born Jan.23,1753. He married Feb.24,1780 to Catherine Davidson who was the daughter of John Davidson, she was born Dec.02,1762 and died May 26,1850. Robert and his family moved to Lincoln Co. North Carolina and to Scott Co. Kentucky in 1795 and to Fayette Co. Ky. about 1800, then to Jassamine Co. Ky. and on to Henry Co. Ky. in 1812. Catherine applied for a Widows Pension Jan.08,1840, claiming that Robert served from the commencement of the War until about the close, as a PVT and LIEUT. and was in the Battles of Kings MT., Cowpens and Eutaw Springs. Robert served under CAPT. Henry and COL. Dickson. The Oath of Allegiance was taken Aug.29,1762 and he was discharged Oct.20,1781.

unk who he is. Doubtful that he is Robert's brother as records show Robert did have a brother William (1745-1782) being killed at Battle of Blue Licks.



This William is also there in 1810, seemingly the only Shannon in Henry Co. He was living between Israel Jones and Thomas Jones, brothers, sons of Stephen Jones who also named a son Mabra M. Robert's daughter Lilly husband was also named Mabra M. Jones.
