Notes:
Ludwig Mohler came from Switzerland in 1730 and located in this township, and had three sons, George, Jacob, and Henry. Of George we have no record. Jacob married and had a son and daughter. His daughter married a Mellinger, from whom probably sprang a large number of the Mellinger family in this county. The son, Jacob, married and had two sons,
John and George. George was a bachelor. John married and became the father of six sons and two daughters.
Hisory of Lancaster County.
(note, this book does not name Ludwig Jr.)
----------
For those Mohlers who were looking for Ludwig, fear not, he is here too. Anna Catharine Mohler, who we believe was Ludwig's daughter, married John Landis, Jr. [son of Ephrata John]. 1728 Henry Mohler's wife was John, Jr.'s sister Elizabeth Landis. We also captured some of the data from J M Hacker's ged2html pages before they disappeared from the Web. These links depict the lineage of Ludwig Mohler, Jr., a true son of Ludwig.

"Mathes/Matthis MOHLER could not be the father of a Ludwig MOHLER born 4 Apr. 1696, as Matthis had a son Heinrich born in Dec. 1696. He also had a son Ludwig that was born in 1705. DNA does show that descendants of Matthis and Ludwig are related but exactly how is not known. Details at above site." (http://home.netcom.com/~fzsaund/moulder.html)
However, Johann Ludwig was born 4 Apr 1696 but was baptized at 7 years old on 22 Nov 1703.
There were two sons Heinrich born to 2nd wife Margreth Strub:
one baptized 25 Nov 1696 but unknown how old he was when baptized. If bt in Nov, he was not born in Dec.
The other son Heinrich was bt 4 Mar 1694.
There is no conflict of births with either of these sons Heinrich.
Re a son Ludwig born in 1705, his name was also listed as Johann Ludwig and he was bt 22 Nov 1705; so again, we do not have his age at baptism.
"Our" Johann Ludwig Muhler was born 4 Apr 1696 and pt 22 Nov 1703 (again, at 7 yrs old). The first Johann bt 22 Nov 1705 vs the 2nd pt Nov 1703 -- looks like a mistranslation on the date of the bt.
