  1. 1.  Elizabeth McDougle was born on 11 Jan 1761 in Maryland (daughter of John McDougle and Charity Duvall); died after 1839.

    1839 Jul 13: Rappahannock Co. Deeds, Vol. C, p 414 (GS#033,661), William Duke and Rebecca, his wife, and Elizabeth Duke sell a tract of land "that was conveyed by William Duke & wife to Richard Duke, by deed bearing date on the 14th day of Dec. 1805."

    Elizabeth married Richard Duke on 14 Nov 1799 in Culpeper Co, Virginia. Richard (son of William* Duke and Mary* Ricketts, (dau of Susannah?)) was born about 1772; died before 1818. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  1. 2.  John McDougle was born on 11 Mar 1730 in Edenburgh or Oban, Scotland; died on 1 Jul 1778 in McClennandtown, Fayette Co, Pennslvania.

    FROM AN APPLICATION FOR D.A.R. FILED BY NELLE MCDOUGLE
    John McDougle enlisted from Frederick Co.MD 21 April 1778 and was Discharged as dead 1 July 1778. He was a private in the Second Regiment MD Troops, John Eccleston Corp. commanded by Col. Thomas Price. He held the rank of private. He was hospitalized 15 June 1778 and died 1 July 1778, being in the service just 2 months and 11 days. He perhaps died at McClellandtown, PA. John was married to Charity DuVall on 20 Feb 1757 by Rev. William Brogden of Queen Anne Parish in Prince George's County. According to the 1776 census of St.
    John's and Prince George's Parish, John was age 44 and Charity age 42; their household included males ages 17, 16, 13, 1* and females ages 15, 12, 7, 5; they had no slaves. In 1778 John and son Samuel,domiciled in Montgomery Co., Maryland, subscribed an oath of allegiance to the newly independent colonial government. John wrote his name and
    Samuel made his mark.
