info from Audrey Pool thru rootsweb 1/04: died in Willimgton, DE Note in posting stated: Janney from "The Quaker Janneys of Cheshire and their Progenitors". by Miles White Jr. In America the name is spelled Janney, Janeway, Janny, etc. Also noted: Randle Janney, of Widforde, married Alice Wilkeson on Nov 26, 1566, at Prestonbury. One of these may be the father of Thomas, to whom we can trace our ancestory. It is not certain.

Nicholas' wife, Martha Janney, was a Quaker, but Nicholas was not. They were married 7 Nov 1732 by a civil court in NJ. Martha was disowned by the Quakers, but reinstated after her acknowledgment was accepted. They moved to Fairfax, VA, in 1747
I have found no record of Nicholas' birth, or who his parents were. (He was reportedly born in Bucks County, PA.) There has been a suggestion that he was a member of a German family named Pickle (Pickel, Bickel, etc.). See my message #12 in the Pickle forum.

Nicholas married Martha Janney on 7 Nov 1732 in New Jersey. Martha (daughter of Joseph Janney and Rebeckah Biles) was born in 1704 in Bucks Co, Pennsylvania; died after 1796 in Loudoun Co, Virginia. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
