JERSEYVJLLE - Oren William "Bill" Lane, 74, died at 3 p.m. Monday, May 20, 1996, at
St. Louis University Hospital.
Born in Alton Sept. 28, 1921, he was the son of the late Frank and Nellie (Manley) Lane.
He grew up and lived in the Calhoun area for most of his life and moved to Jerseyville in 199 1 from Nebo.
While in Calhoun County he worked as a farmhand for various farmers and eventually retired i n 1978 from the White Hall Community Hospital where he worked in the maintenance
department.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps World War II veteran and member of the Eldred American Legion Po st 1135.
He married the former Viola Hunt July 10, 1944, in Hardin. She survives.
Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Steve Moore of Brighton; two
granddaughters, Shanda Byer of Springfield and Melissa Brogdon of Brighton; and a sister, Ali ce Oliver of Jerseyville.
He was preceded in death by a son, Eldon Lane, who died in 1952, and a brother, James Lane.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Crawford-Holden Funeral Home in Jerseyville,
where services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Full military graveside rites will be conducted by Jerseyville American Legion Post 492 and V eterans of Foreign Wars Post 4528 at Grimes Cemetery in Jerseyville.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Lane family.

William married Bessie Geske about 1920, and was divorced after 1921. Bessie (daughter of August Geske and Adah Rose Snider) was born on 12 Dec 1908 in Hardin, Calhoun Co, Illinois; died on 25 Jan 1992 in Calhoun Care Center, Hardin, Calhoun, Illinois. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

HARDIN - Bessie E. Tobias, 83, died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 1992, at Calhoun Care
Center in Hardin
She was born Dec.12. 1908, in Hardin, a daughter of the late August and Ada Rose (Snider) Ges ke. Her husband, Richard Tobias, died in 1984.
Surviving are a daughter, Viola Lane of Jerseyville; a granddaughter; and two great-granddaug hters.
Two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. The body was cremated.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
Hanks-Gubscr Funeral Home of Hardin is in charge of arrangements.

August married Adah Rose Snider about 1893. Adah (daughter of James Allen Snider and Rebecca Hill) was born in Mar 1873 in Calhoun, Illinois; died on 30 Jul 1953 in Calhoun Nursing Home, Hardin, Calhoun, Illinois; was buried on 2 Aug 1953 in Hardin Cem, Hardin, Calhoun Co, Illinois. Mrs. Adah Geske
Mrs. Adah Geske, 80, widow of August Geske, died at the Calhoun Nursing Home near Hardin at 1 1:45
p.m. Thursday. Her body was brought to the Hanks funeral home here where it will remain unti l the funeral services Sunday, and there friends may call after 1:00 p.m. today.
Mrs. Geske was the daughter of James A. and Rebecca Hill Snider,
She was born in Jersey County, but lived for 60 years on the Geske homestead three miles wes t of
Hardin. Her husband has been dead for several years.
She was the mother of seven children, only three of whom survive.
Her son, Sam, and family live on the home place and there is one daughter in Chicago and on e in California. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hardin Presbyterian church by the Rev. Lyle D. Ston e
Sunday at 2 p.m. (CST). Burial will be in Hardin cemetery.
