Comments: Hi, this is Keith Stone from South Georgia. I'm descended from a Leonard Stone, who moved here in the early 1800s from South Carolina. He had 4 brothers, including one named Marvel. I DNA tested with FTDNA (Y-DNA-67). I have three matches so far. One has a grandfather who I already had in my family tree. One is still working on his connection. One is descended from Marvel and Lucy of Virginia. We're convinced that all of the Marvels, and the many alternate spellings thereof, branch together in the 1600s in New Kent County, Virginia. It's probable, but not proven, Marvel got his name from his mother, Mary Marvell, dau of John Marvell. I'm into my third year of research on this family of Stones, which has included a vacation to the area, retracing the travels of them along the James River. There is a house that Caleb Stone built in eastern Fluvanna County in 1794 that is on the historical registry there, and still being lived in!
I haven't had time to look through your site, yet, but I wanted to get in touch with y'all. If you'd like, I'll print a copy of my y-DNA markers, and send it- see if we match y'all.
