Josiah Campbell and Susannah Mitchell moved to Mercer Co KY well after their marriage in 1771. She died there in 1818 Three of their daughters married three Jones brothers. One daughter, Mary Enos Campbell(named for her maternal grandmother) married Martin Jones. He was killed about 1810 in Mercer Co. Their son Stephen Mitchell Jones was born circa 1804 in Mercer C0. (Died in 1884 in Crawford Co, IN) He is named for Susannah's brother. Mary Enos Campbell Jones later married Philip Shuck and moved to IN. Need to know more about Campbell family and Jones family. Believe Martin's father was named Isaac.

Josiah married Susannah Mitchell about 1764 in Bedford Co, Virginia. Susannah (daughter of Robert Mitchell and Mary Enos (Ennis)) was born about 1744 in Bedford Co, Virginia; died on 20 Aug 1813 in Mercer Co, Kentucky. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Copy of Will of Robert Mitchell
In the name of God Amen. I, Robert Mitchell of Bedford County and Province of Virginia, being of Perfect mind and memory do make this my Last Will and Testament first my Lawful Debt to be discharged, to my beloved wife Mary I give the Planation I now live on during her life or widowhood, at the end of either I give it to my son Samuel. Also to my wife Mary I give all my movable Estate to be disposed of at her discretion, to my son Daniel I give one hundred acres of Land where he now lives. To Robert and Stephen I Give the remainder of the Upper Tract I bought of Hilton. To Josias Campbell the lower half of the same tract. My wife, Daniel & Samuel I Lease my Executory to see the Execution of this my will which I do declare to be my last revoking all others by me heretofore made as Witness my hand Twenty Third day of April one thousand seven hundred and eighty one. His Witness: John Dowdy, James Freemen, Mark, James Davis. As a Court held for Bedford County the 25th February 1799. This last will & Testament of Robert Mitchell deceased was proved by the oath of John Dowdy & James Freeman witnesses who names are thereto subscribed & Ordered to be
recorded. And on the motion of Daniel Mitchell & Samuel Mitchell Executors therein names, who made oath thereto certificate is granted them for obtaining probate thereof in due form on giving security whereupon they together with Jesse Leftwich & Stephen Preston their security's entered into & Acknowledged their Bond in the Penalty of Five hundred dollars conditioned for the said executors due & faithful administration of said decedent's Estate & Performance of his will.

The book "Kentucky Genealogy and Biography" Vol. 5, p. 209 edited by Thomas Westerfield has a biography of Thomas Mitchell b. 16 June 1768 Rockbridge Co., VA. Thomas was the son of John Mitchell and Margaret Porter. John Mitchell was the son of John Mitchell and Mary Boyd. The book states "John
Mitchell and Mary Boyd immigrated from Ireland when their two children were very young. They appeared in Lancaster Co., PA in 1721. They lived there until 1737 when they moved over to the Virginia frontier to the area known as Augusta Co., VA. The area in Virginia later became Rockbridge County. In 1744 John, Jr. with his father's money selected a tract of land south of the Borden Grant for his father. The grant was for 400 acres being as stated in the patent, on a Branch of the James River called Broad Spring Branch." (The book states two children which would have been John and William.)
