I believe the connection of Thomas T. Jones to Edward and Clarissa (Offutt) Jones to be a very slim one indeed. There are at least two other stronger possibilities. I have never been able to find anything other than a marriage record for Edward and Clarissa. I believe this information came from Ovel Odes Jones many years ago. I spoke with him several times only about a year before his death, and at that time he told me no one knew who Thomas T.'s parents were. Since he was otherwise extremely helpful, sending me photos and information, even calling me long-distance, I doubt that he would have withheld that important piece of information if he still believed it to be true. He had a deceased cousin Raymond who submitted information to LDS that indicated --I believe -- a Joseph and Margaret Jones, also without strong evidence. When I questioned Odes about this, he said Raymond "had a lot of information, most of it wrong". If anyone has any solid evidence that David and Clarissa are Thomas T. Jones' parents, I would be most interested in hearing from them. Till that time, I think it would be prudent not to perpetuate this possible error, or at least clarify that this is an unproven relationship.
    ---------

there are other trees that show his parents as David Thompson Jones b abt 1763 in VA and Jane Porter. This record shows Thomas T. (Thompson?) to be born in Fincaste, Botetourt Co, Virginia.

    Research Notes:
There is only one two trees on the internet that says he's son of Abraham of Pennsylvania. However, with him being born in Wythe County, it seems doubtful. There is an Abraham in several Quaker records in Pennsylvania and it doesn't sound like this father/son would be a likely scenario.
I had also thought he might be a grandson of Willoughby Jones but that isn't looking likely. There is a slight DNA match of someone in this myself and my paternal 1st cousin; and Willoughby is my maternal side.
Leaving him attached to Willoughby as a grandson, but I really don't think he is.
