    another Turner connection:

Another Everett family, which based on our DNA data is distinctly different from the above Nathaniel?s family, were and continue to be neighbors in Martin County. This family line arrived in North Carolina somewhat later and was led by a Simon Everett. He migrated from the areas of Nansmond and Isle of Wight Counties, Virginia into Eastern North Carolina by 1749 and purchased 500 acres in Edgecombe County. This land would eventually lie in Herford County. He later recorded land purchases in Pitt County and Martin County. His sons were Simon Turner Everett (1766-1827) and James Everett. This family has been researched extensively by Robert L. Everett (See the resources.)

Death: in Martin County, North Carolina Formed 1774 From Halifax And Tyrrell Counties

The 1704 Virginia Quit Rent Roll listed Simon Everett in Isle of Wight County and William Everett in Nansemond County. When Bob Everett's ancestor Simon Everett bought land in NC, he said he was "of Nansemond County, Virginia." The William Everett family who moved from Nansemond to Martin County in the 1730's had strong Turner connections. Wills and deeds prove that William Everett married Sarah Speir, daughter of physician James Speir (see below) of Nansemond Co, VA. Sarah and William Everett named a son James, probably after Sarah's father. They also named a son Samuel Turner Everett. Sarah and William Everett's daughter Sarah married John Pollard. Sarah and John Pollard named one son Everett Pollard and one son Turner Pollard. I would guess that either William Everett's mother was a Turner or that Sarah Speir's mother was a Turner.

The 1704 quit rent roll for Isle of Wight County, Virginia listed Henry Turner. No Turners appeared in the Nansemond list.

    Message Board Post:

I'd like to make a connection with anyone researching the parents and descendants of William EVERETT/EVERITT, b. 1700. By 1723, he owned land on the north side of the Chowan River in Chowan County, a neighbor to possible relative, Nathaniel Everett. He married Laviah [Sarah] UNKNOWN in Chowan County before 1723. In 1732 he purchased land in Bertie Precinct, on the south side of the "Marotoke" River (?), which became Halifax and Tyrrell Counties, and later became Martin County. Here he raised his family:

4 known daughters - Patience (m. Mr. BUTLER), Ann (m. Mr. WAHOON)[or Mahoon], Laviah [Sarah] (m. John POLLARD), Mary (m. Mr. BALLARD).
4 known sons - James, John, William Jr., and Samuel Turner (m. Amy UNKNOWN).

William's will was probated in 1774 in Martin County.

If you see a connection, kindly contact me.
