    FIRST ROARKS IN AMERICA
    The story that was past down through the generations til now was that there were 4 brothers, Michael, Elijah, David and John, who came from Ireland to America. The brothers started a powder factory in North Carolina. They were full Irish, and Catholics but John changed the name to Roark and left the church for he couldnt agree with it.

    LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
    In the name of God Amen. I ELIJAH ROARK of the County of Stokes and state of North Carolina, being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God calling unto mind the Mortallity of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hand of almight God that it and by body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian Burial at the Discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God as touching such wordly estate where with it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give, devise, and dispose of the same in the following manner and form and
    First.
    I desire that there may be sold as much of my Estate as will satisfy all my lawful debts.
    Secondly, I give to my son TIMOTHY ROARK the sum of ten shillings. Likewise to my daughter SARAH LINVILLE ten shillings, and to my son JOHN ROARK ten shillings and the balance of the estate I give and bequeath to my wife JUDITH ROARK during her widowhood or till my youngest child shall come to age and then to be equally divided between her and my other six children: that is to say, POLLY, NANCY, ELIJAH, REBEKAH, WILLIAM, and DELILAH, and I do make my wife JUDITH ROARK and TIMOTHY ROARK Senr. my whole soul executor and executrix of this my last will and testament all and singular lands, messuages, and tenaments by her freely to be possessed by her and enjoyed for the purpose of raising and keeping my children together and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke, and disannul all and every other former testament, wills, and by me named, willed, and bequeathed, and what ever property I have given to my son TIMOTHY ROARK and to my daughter SARAH LINVILLE and to my son JOHN ROARK when they went from me I wish them to keep and to enjoy and I do make and confirm this to be my last will and testament in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seven.
