    Research Notes:
Bertha's mother is the "wife's mother" who Tom McCoy said in 1917 he was caring for; and probably the deceased children of Carrie Elizabeth are the four children he mentions. This was in his WWI draft registration - said he was exempt because of wife, wife's mother, and four children. His own children were not born yet.

Lee Sabine Curey listed Tom McCoy as person who would always know his address in his WWII draft registration in 1942. This makes sense because Bertha would be his aunt, as well; making Tom his uncle and, he, too, was probably raised by them. (Bertha seems to have been half sister to John Wesley Brown who married Carrie Holdridge and Lee was stepson to John Brown.)
