Gibson "Gippy" Johnson (Odom), (adopted) was born in 1818 in Louisiana (son of John L. "Saddler" Johnson, (not son of Moses, son of who?) and Nancy "Polly" Miller); died after 1860 in of, Rapides Parish, Louisiana.

Notes:

John L. Johnson also know as Saddler Johnson was a saddle maker.

In the 1870 US Census John was listed as a boot and shoe maker living in Sabine Co., Louisiana. Living with him is Mary Ann Johnson age 55 years and Wm J D Kilcrease age 5 years.

He was the adopted father of Andrew Jackson Davis Johnson and Gibson 'Gippy' Johnson. Both of them took his last name although there is no official record of adoption. It is not known if Andrew and Gibson were brothers. At present time, Andrew is thought to have been born a 'Davis' but there is no DNA evidence to prove or disprove that theory. On the other hand, Gibson has been positively matched to the family of 'Odom' by DNA results.
