    Tombstone reads as follows:
In Memory of John L Lovelady

This stone is barely readable, the weather has withered away most of it.

In a paper titled: "First settlers of Nacoochee Valley - 1822" It states the following:
This paper was read by Henry Williams at a lawn party given at the Starlight House in 1922.
Following are the names of the sixty-two families who came to Nacoochee Valley, Habersham County, Georgia March 10, 1822. This group left Burke County, North Carolina on the first day of March 1822, arriving at Nacoochee Valley on the 10th day of March. They purchased land from the indians, who were later carried to Indian Territory (Oklahoma) in 1838, leaving Georgia in April of 1837. These sixty-two families came in two parties one just a day behind the other, often using the same camp fires at night. One party came from Burke County, NC and the other came from Rutherford County, NC.
15th Party: John Lovelady and family, settled near the Mauldin Family. (The Mauldin Familty is not listed on the paper)
50th Party: Benjamin West and Family & Frank West and Family.
23rd Family: Job Sosebee & Abram Sosebee and their Mother "Aunt Patsy", who had seven boys and four girls in the family.
13th Party: Wilkes T. Leonard and family, settled across the river near what is known as Robertstown Mine, later they moved to what is known today as the "Dover Mill Place" where he built a mill which is known today as the "Stoval Mill".

Although this paper states that they left North Carolina in 1822, I have to question the date. John Lovelady is listed on the 1820 Federal Census of Habersham County, Georgia.
