    Benjamin Coleman Gosney was born 21 Feb 1755 in either Frederick or Culpepper Co. Virginia to Henry Gosney and Mary Jane Shelton. Benjamin called"Buck" had close to 14 siblings. In 1789 he first married Sarah Applebee in Culpepper Co. Virginia. They had two sons and one daughter when Sarah died in 1794. In the early part of 1795 he married Margaret Colvin of Culpepper Co.,Virginia. Soon after they were married they moved to Campbell Co. Kentucky. They had 14 children together. In his will at the court house in Alexandria, Kentucky he names his wife and all his children. He named his son Oliver Gosney and his son-in-law-, Genethan/Jonathan Hopkins, executors of his estate. The will was date Feb 16, 1840 and probated in the March 1840 term of court. He was living in Grants Lick, Campbell Co., Kentucky when he died March 21, 1840. Benjamin was a farmer in Campbell Co., and he had a salt mill on the farm he owned and operated.
