  1. 1.  Nancy Anna Perry was born in 1771 in Virginia; was christened on 21 Nov 1801 in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana (daughter of John Perry and Mrs. Penelope C. (..) Perry); died in 1864.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Religion: Lutheran

    Notes:

Nancy said to have married Jonathan Rucker - (born 1764 South Carolina - died 16 Apr 1823 Natchez MS)
unsourced tree on web says married Edward Jr. 8 May 1789 and Rucker on 3 Dec 1798 but those dates are not consistent with recorded info on the children.

must be a different Nancy Perry.

Anna Perry - of Virginia, Presbyterian (John & Penelope Perry)

My GGGrandfather, William Thomas Perry, had a sister Nancy Anna Perry who married Edward Foreman, and the children I have listed are Isaac Foreman and Julia Ann Winnie Foreman. Isaac married Susan Spell and Julia married Thomas Henry Hoffpauir. That's all of the children of Nancy Anna and Edward that I have since they are both in my line.
My family is from the Indian Bayou, Vermillion Parish, area.
    Nice meeting you.

    Birth:
PERRY, Ann - a native of the North "una muger adulta" [an adult woman] (John PERRY) bt. 21 Nov. 1801 at age 30 years; Grandparents' names are unknown. Spons: Victor RICHARD & Marie VASSEUR. (Editor's note: The very next entry is the baptism of Julie FORMAN, daughter of Edward FORMAN & Anne PERRY.) Fr. Louis BUHOT (Opel. Ch.: v.1-kA, p266)

Nancy married Edward Forman, Jr on 8 May 1798 in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. Edward (son of Edward* Forman, (son? speculation) and Rebecca Rascoe (or Ravcoe)) was born in 1749 in Virginia; died in 1818 in St. Martin Parish, Louisiana. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Notes:

    Married:
Foreman, Edouard, Presbyterian (Edouard & Rebecca Ravcoe of Virginia, all Presbyterians) m. 08 May 1798 Anna Perry, a Lutheran.

PERRY, Anna - of Virginia, a presbyterian (John & Penelope PERRY) m. Tuesday, 8 May 1798 Edward FOREMAN - single; a Presbyterian (Edward & Rebecca RANOE(?) - of Virginia, Presbyterians) Wits: Marguerite KREBS GRADENIGO [signs clearly "KREBS"], Jean GRADENIGO. Fr. Pedro de ZAMORA (Opel. Ch.: Marriages v. 1-B, 1787-1830,p.2)

note by ss: At the time of this marriage in 1798 there were three children already born, Julia age 9; Nathan Ephraim age 5, and Raquel age 1.
Julia's and Raquel's birth records in SW Louisiana records say they were children of Edward & Rebecca Rascoe; however, they would have been grandparents instead of parents. Edward Jr. was already 40 by the time Julia was born and 42 when Raquel was born; so it's highly unlikely they were his sisters. Dates of continuity of baptisms conclude they were daughters of Edward Jr. & Anna Perry.

Some believe they were children of a previous marriage; however it seems that they were indeed Anna's children. On their marriage day 8 May 1798, the baby Raquel, 1 y.o., was also baptized.
They had another child Isaac Pierre in 1799. Then on Nov 21, 1801, Nancy Anna herself, the baby Pierre, abt 2, and the two older Julia and Nathan Ephraim were baptized at ages 12 and 8 respectively were baptized together.
Their marriage record stated Edward Forman was single - indicating this was his first marriage.

AMERICANS ARRIVING in SPANISH-HELD NATCHEZ 1788-1790

*These reports were written by a Spanish officer, Carlos de Grand Pre to Governor Estevan Miro; therefore many of the names are in SPANISH or a PHONETIC attempt to convert the name to Spanish. Some are in English. The term "settler" means those with intent to settle the district. In 1788, a royal order encouraged American immigration and trade, and colonist began arriving in larger numbers than ever before. Few of these arrived via the land route, however; most arrived on flatboats, coming down the Mississippi. The majority came from Kentucky. Many settled in what would become Adams, Amite, Claiborne, Franklin, Jefferson and Wilkinson counties. List taken from records in the MS Dept. of Archives and History, Jackson MS.
