    He wrote his will on 10/23/1756 and it was probated in Charles County on 2/21/1757 (Will 30:272). He wanted his wife to settle with Bayne Smallwood all company accounts. She was to have the tract where they lived and was named as his executri. He named his children and two grandchildren ~ WILLIAM JORDAN and ANN JORDAN who received tobacco left in the hands of their father John Jordan. His son GEORGE was to have his 200 acre tract in Stafford County, Virginia and the lands formerly belonging to his brother THOMAS now in the hands of Mr. Cox who married his brother THOMAS'S widow. WARREN was to receive the home place and land in Maryland.

    On 3/30/1757 Anne Dent administered her husband's estate, valued at £1755.11.01. The next of kin on his inventory were his daughters ELEANOR JORDAN and JUDITH CHASE (Inv 64:42).

    When Rev. William Dowie, the Rector of Durham Parish died in 1769 he left his children JUDITH DOWIE and ELEANOR DOWE under the care of their grandmother Mrs. Anne Dent during her life and after her death under the care of MRS. JUDITH CHASE and MR. WARREN DENT (Will 37:309). No record was found for Anne's death.

I desire you to give a bill of sale of the cattle and their produce that I formerly left with Mr. Thomas Dent, to his widow and children, according to your discretion, and this shall oblige me to stand to it. Signed May 30, 1727 - Henry Darnall.

    To Mr. William Chandler. Pursuant to an order from Mr. Henry Darnall to me directed, dated May 30, 1727, be it known that I have sold to Mr. William Dent and Thomas Dent, sons of Thomas Dent, late of CC, decd, all the cattle that were on sd Thomas Dent's plantation, belonging to the afd Henry Darnall & to myself, for and in consideration of 5 shillings to me paid. The cattle are to be equally divided between the afd William and Thomas Dent. Signed Aug 23, 1728 - Willm Chandler. Wit - Willm Clifton, John Beale.' CC. On Nov 13, 1728 came John Beale before us, 2 CC JPs, and made oath that he saw the above instrument signed and sealed, and that at the same time, the above named William Clifton was present.     William Dent born c 1652, was States Attorney for St Mary's Co, Charles Co, Calvert Co, Maryland. He was a member of the House of Bergers, Speaker of the House. The house of Berges ws an assembly of colonial Virginia and was the first elected assembly in America. In 1775 Patrick Henry delivered his famous words, "Give me Liberty or give me death" before the House of Berges. He was a desc of King Edward I of England.
    William inherited the Hull's Neck plantation on Westbury manor in St Mary's Co, and a port of the large plantation on the Najemoy in Charles Co, where he established his dwelling-plantation. Few colonial squires lived in more style and elee than William Dent, with his numerous slaves and white indentured servents on his several plantations. Besides his country seat on the Najemoy, he maintained a town house in Annapolis, the capital and social center of the province, and well-stocked plantations on the Mattawoman in Prince Georges Co, and another stock farm at Portobacco Clifts. His library was considerable for that day and the value of his silver and plate at his death was increditable.
    On March 20, 1682/83, at the age of 22 he was sworn before His Lordship's Justices of Charles Co, as an attorney. At the age of 26 he began his public service as clerk of the Lower House of the Assembly.

    Colonel William Dent was born in St. Mary's County, Maryland in 1652, according to a deposition he made in 1697 at the age of 37. He was the eldest son of Judge Thomas Dent and his wife Rebecca Wilkinson Dent. He carried on the tradition ovices and Loyality to the Crown as did his father . At the time of his death in 1704-4, William Dent was one of the most outstanding and respected Statesman in the Colonies, as well as one of the most affluent.
    On February 8, 1684, Col William Dent and Elizabeth Fowke were married at the home of Elizabeth's mother, Anne Thoroughgood Fowke (wife of deceased Gerard Fowke.
    Father Col. Gerard Fowke was a gentleman of the bedchamber of King Charles I of England and a direct descendent of Henry II, King of Eng) in Port Tabacco, Charles County, Maryland. Attending the wedding was Elizabeth Fowke's half-brother, Col William Chandler and his wife Madam Mary Chandler, her brother Mr. Garard Fowke and his wife Mary Fowke, and many other guests. The license was received by Rev. John Furling, Presbit. Anglianae. Eclesiae.
    Col. William Dent and his wife, Elizabeth Fowke Dent had a large family but only four children lived to maturity, Capt.Thomas Dent 3rd., Col George Dent, Judge Peter Dent, and Elizabeth Dent, who married Richard Tarvin. Thomas Dent was bn 1687. There were five other children who died very young. William, b. Dec. 13, 1688, Gerard Dent b.1688, Elizabeth b. 1688, d.1699, Anne Dent b.1692, Phillip Dent.
