Captain Moses* Moore

In regards to Moses Moore, and I'm not positive that this is our guy, but he is the only one that makes sense from a standpoint of time and place (to be a daddy to Nancy and to be in Augusta Co. VA) from Lyman Chalkley's "Chronicles of the Scots-Irish in Virginia", Lyman Chalkely, 1912, Moses Moore was a prisoner taken at the Jackson River in May, 1758 (by the Indians), and later in Augusta, Administration of his estate in Aug and appraisers in Nov, 1758 would seem to point out that he died, probably as a soldier at the end of that war. There is no mention of his wife Jane, (as supposedly given) nor any mention of a daughter Nancy.

Moses* married Jane (..) Moore about 1740. Jane was born about 1710; died after 1748. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

1. Moses Moore was born in 1738 in Timber Ridge, Rockbridge Co, Virginia; died on 9 Jun 1812 in Pocahontas Co, West Virginia; was buried in Moore Cem, Frost, Pocahontas Co, West Virginia.
2. John Moore was born about 1744; died after 1800 in Rhea Co, Tennessee.
3. Rebecca Nancy* Moore was born about 1745; died in May 1800 in en route to Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
4. Margaret Moore was born about 1747; died after 1770.

(a) Andrew Moore born 6/1688 and died May 7, 1753 who married Margaret Wilson first.
He arrived at New Castle, Delaware August 3, 1723 and settled in Sudsbury Twp, Chester and Lancaster Counties involved in milling and farming.
They had four children
(i) James;
(ii) Mary;
(iii) Margaret; and
(iv) Thomas;

he married second to Rachel Halliday, daughter of William and they had children:
(i) William born 10/27/1723;
(ii) Robert;
(iii) David;
(iv) Andrew born 1733;
(v) Joseph;

(x) Sarah;

James* married Sarah* GUYON on 1 Jul 1687. Sarah* was born on 16 Mar 1647/1648. She died on 5 Feb 1698/1699 in County Antrim, Ireland.

"David Moore (brother of Andrew Moore) and wife, "late of Ireland", produced a certificate at Concord M.M. 7 Nov. 1722, from a select meeting held at Ballynacree, in the County of Antrim. 3 Aug. 1726, they requested a certificate to New Garden M.M., but before the next meeting 7 Sept. 1726 David was deceased. His widow, being removed, a certificate was granted for her. She was disowned by New Garden M.M. 29 June 1730, having married a second husband, Thomas McCollum.

She was a member of Sadsbury Meeting at the time of second marriage."
