I am researching the family of Marble (also spelled Marvel) Stone and Lucy Bostick Stone. They initially lived in Albemarle County, VA, then in Prince Edward County, VA, and migrated to Georgia and South Carolina after living in Surry County between 1772 and 1782. Marble Stone left a will in Georgia naming sons Solomon and Littleberry (from whom I am descended), and daughters Annie Stone McAnalley, Betty Stone Wheeler, and Nancy Stone. I am willing to share information with anyone who can provide additional information on this family's origin. I have seen records in the book by Absher confirming their residence in Surry and the approximate times of residence. David Stone e-mail: dstone@mail.mcg.edu or dstonejr@mem.po.com

    -------------------

Our Stone Family so far has been traced to Marble Stone, who was in Albemarle Co. Virginia about 1748. Marble was probably born about 1730 and married Lucy Bostick about 1750. The places he is known to have been are in Virginia: Albemarle, Prince Edward and Halifax Counties. In North Carolina he was known to have been in Surry Co. 1772. He was also known to have been in Barnwell, South Carolina where his will was written and Jefferson Co., Georgia where he died and his will was probated in 1810.

Marble's children were Littleberry Stone who married Anna Brooke; Solomon Stone who married Elizabeth Ladd; Betty Stone who married a Wheeler; Nancy Stone who married Eli McCasless and Annie Stone who married John McAnnally. All of these children were mentioned in his will.

Thanks for responding! Also, thanks for sending those results (John's Y-DNA results). I compared them with mine, and they weren't even close. I do know that I match a known descendant of Marvel and Lucy. Our theory is that all of the Marvel Stones originated with one family in Virginia. I have a scenario that just might work for Lucy's Marvel's father. There was an Elijah Stone and a Margaret Stone owning land near Marvel's farm in Pedlar Mills,VA in the 1740s . It's possible that this Elijah may have been Marvel's father. This Elijah may have been a son of John Stone, son of William and Mary Stone of New Kent County and St. Peter's Parish. I haven't decided if I think Margaret was Marvel's sister or his mother.

BTW, I have autosomal results on FTDNA, and have entered them into GEDmatch. I really think I've traced Marvel's parents as John and Rebecca Amoss Stone of St. Peter's Parish. John was the son of William and Mary Stone of the same church in New Kent Co. I have a huge, tangled web of original records, DNA matches and some good old fashioned reasoning that just might have made the case!
