by these presents subrogating the said purchaser to all the rights and actions of warranty fully authorizing the said purchaser to exercise said rights and actions in the same manner as he himself might before me at the residence of L. W. Ellis in said Parish and State in presence of David Godwin, Sen. and Jas. C. Watts competent witnesses of lawful age and residents of said Parish who hereunto sign their names together with the parties and me said Recorder all in presence of each other on the day and date above written.

And now to these presents personally came and appeared Omelia Lang wife of L. W. Ellis, who after taking cognizance to the foregoing act which I the said Recorder carefully read and explained to her declared and said, that she ratified and approved the same and that it is her wish and intention to release in favor of the said purchaser Henry K. Cabaniss the lands herein described from the matrimonial, dotal paraphernalia and other rights and from any claims, mortgages or privileges to which she may be entitled whether by virtue of her marriage with L. W. Ellis or otherwise. Whereupon I the said Recorder carefully read and explained to her seperate and apart and out of the presence and hearing of her said husband that by the laws of this State the wife has a legal mortgage on all the property of her husband. First.............Secondly...........Thirdly.............Fourthly...............Fifthly............. .and she Omelia Lang did thereupon declare unto me Recorder that she was fully aware of and acquainted with the nature and extent of the rights as aforesaid and that she never theless did persist in her intention of renouncing but does formally renounce not only all the rights claims and privileges herein before enumerated and described but all others of any nature or kind whatsoever to which she is or may be entitled by any laws now or heretofore in force in the State of Lousiana. The said L. W. Ellis her husband being now present aiding and authorizing his said wife in the execution of these presents she the said wife did again declare that she did and does hereby make a formally renunciation to and in favor of the said purchaser binding herself her heirs and assigns at all times do sustain and acknowledge the validity of this renunciation. Thus done and signed in presence of David Godwin Sen. and Jas. C. Watts competent witnesses who hereunto sign their names together with the parties and me said Recorder all in presence of each other on this the 25th day of June A.D. 1860.

A Gabriel Muffett of Prince William County was apprenticed to Lynaugh Helm, beginning on 5 September 1763. His father (deceased) was George Muffett. [Dettingen Parish Vestry Book, 1745-1785, pg. 38] He is believed to have been the Gabriel Mufett who was deeded 346 acres in the Parish of Dettingen by Maurice Lynaugh. [Shenandoah Families-Helm by Bessie Taul Conkwright]
(Perhaps this is Gabriel, son of Gabriel - not George. The elder Gabriel had willed in 1758 that his minor children be placed in the care of Lynaugh and Leonard Helm.
