Richard sold property to Ann Moreland in 1778 Book E page ?Know all men by these presents that I Richard Ogelsby of the county of Amherst have this day given, granted and confirmed unto my daughter Ann Moreland of the county of Powhatan a certain Negro girle called and known by the name Sarah which said Negro I do give, grant and confirm with her increase to my said daughter Ann and her heirs forever from me, my heirs, executors, administrators or my other person or persons whatsoever as witness my hands and seal this 17th day of August, 1778. In the presence of John Curd, James Curd, Robin Poor and John Curd Sr. In language virtually identical to his gift to Ann Moreland he gave a Negro girle named Aggy to his daughhter Elizabeth Towman or Thomason (?).of Henrico county. I've gone back and looked at Jesse?s Revolutionary War papers and he served the first time in place of his nephew Richard Perkins who was married at the time (Dec. 1783). There was another Jesse Oglesby at the time and I think he may have them mixed up, but I don?t know for sure. Also, a descendant from Pleasant Oglesby said there was some kind of comment about Pleasant visiting his brother Jesse or Jesse visiting Pleasant . . . can?t remember exactly what it was.

Jacob^ married Constant^ Christian in 1726 in Goochland, Goochland Co, Virginia. Constant^ (daughter of Thomas^ Christian and Rebecca^ Steth) was born in 1709 in Henrico Co, Virginia; died after 1740 in Henrico Co, Virginia. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

With respect to Jacob and Constant, I've done quite a bit of research on this. At first I thought it was Constance Perkins but I?m certain it is not. I have seen a lot of trees on Ancestry.com that claim it's Constance Perkins but I don?t believe that. Thomas Christian was an adjacent landowner of Richard Oglesby, Jacob's father, (as confirmed through land grant records) and he had a daughter named Constant. I have a copy of Thomas' will and he names Constant as a daughter. Additionally, we have a relative named Mary Christian Oglesby, daughter of Jacob Oglesby (son of Jacob Oglesby and Constant) and his wife Mildred Martin. Mary Christian married Coleman Estes. I have a copy of Coleman's will and in that will Mary?s middle name is confirmed as ?Christian.? It was not uncommon for girls back then to take the grandmother's maiden name as the middle name (this happened elsewhere in the Oglesby tree - e.g., Elizabeth Dancy Cole). Based on this evidence I think it?s pretty certain that Constant Christian is the wife of Jacob Oglesby, son of Richard.
