13. | Rachel Welsh (or Walsh) Clark, (dau?) was born in 1792 in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana (daughter of Matthew Clark and Marie Robert); died on 3 Mar 1859 in Louisiana. Notes:
NOTE: Was Walsh possibly a maiden name? Perhaps it's "Welsh."
Possible connections:
John Clark m (2) Mary Stephens. Wife (1) Mary Cantey could have been her mother.
Spons of John Clark (James & Esther Comstock) on 4 Jul 1809.
George Welsh bt 1814, s/o Jacob Welsh & Susan Robert (Ben & Eliz Cole) was sponsored by George Stephens and his sister Mary Stephens, who was then the widow of John Clark.
IF correct, Susan Robert is Rachel's aunt. Rachel's husband is brother to the sponsors (though both bros. have "Wm" in their name). Aunt Susan was married after Rachel was named; but possible family connection not yet discovered.

from notes of Patrick Clark:
There was a possible connection between the Clarks and the Stephens in Maryland. There is a Rachel Clark who married William Stevens and some purport that she is the daughter of Francis; however her birth is 1792.
A tree on Ancestry shows her as Rachel Walsh Clark

from notes on William Stephens
Carol Noack (cnoack@exp.net): "I have a photocopy of the pages of John Stephens bible which says William Stephens was born 1780 and died 16 Feb 1857 at age 77. It says Rachel Clark was born 1792 and died 5 Mar 1859 at age 65."
George Stephens marriage was witnessed by a H.W. Stephens (H. William - this William?)
LV Hayes: If Rachel's 1792 birth date is correct, she cannot be a daughter of Francis and Rachel. Francis died c 1780, and Rachel remarried soon thereafter. She had her first child by her second husband, Joshua Garrett, in 1783 (and 7 more after that). Looks like we're going to have to find another set of parents for Rachel."
