Hi,

I was just at the Southwest LA Genealogical Society Library at found an article in the Lake Charles Echo dated 3 Feb 1872 about the succession of Stephen and and Nancy. Although Probate File 308 was destroyed in the Court House fire the article mentions that both Stephen and Nancy are dead. So the death date you have for Nancy is incorrect.

I did not make a copy of the article but if you wish one I?m sure the library will send you one.

Nancy married Stephen Cole on 29 Aug 1821 in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. Stephen (son of James Cole (Coale) and Jemimah Curtis) was born on 5 Apr 1802 in Coles Creek, Natchez Co, Mississippi; died in 1869 in Hickory Flats, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

1. Richard Cole was born in 1822 in Plaquemine, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana; died in 1900 in Lufkin, Angelina Co, Texas.
2. Samuel Cole was born in 1824 in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana; died in 1912.
3. Jacob Stampley Cole was born in 1827 in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana; died in 1903.
4. James Manton Cole was born in 1828 in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana; died in 1906.
5. Elizabeth Cole was born in 1834 in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana; died after 1850.
6. Mary Cole was born in 1841 in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana; died after 1850.
7. Winnie Cole was born in 1845; died before 1900.
